Quick fixes

The extension is not visible

Pin ImageTrace from Chrome’s Extensions menu, refresh an already-open webpage, and open the extension again.

No images were discovered

Wait for images to load, scroll to the required content, and run Scan all images again.

Downloads do not start

Allow multiple downloads if Chrome asks, then check the download-blocked notification and Chrome download settings.

PNG/JPG conversion fails

Protected or unreadable image responses may not convert. Switch the download format to Original and retry.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my projects missing on another device?

Projects, tags, and notes are stored locally in the current Chrome profile. Use JSON or ZIP export to move them to another profile or device.

Does ImageTrace automatically scan an infinite page?

No. Scroll to load the content you need, then run Scan all images again. Newly loaded results are added without duplicate URLs.

Why did an animation become a still image?

Converting animated GIF or WebP content to PNG or JPG may preserve only one frame. Save the Original format to keep animation.

Can ImageTrace retrieve protected or paid content?

No. ImageTrace does not bypass authentication, paywalls, DRM, Chrome security boundaries, or website access restrictions.

Does saving the source URL grant permission to reuse an image?

No. A source record helps you find the original page again; it is not copyright permission or a license.
